"Rīgas satiksme" calls on passengers to check expiry date of their e-tickets
"Rīgas satiksme" calls on public transport passengers who use blue e-tickets to check their expiry date and, if it is nearing, to visit a customer service centre where the e-ticket will be replaced by a new one.
The electronic payment system and e-tickets as means of payment in Riga public transport were introduced in the spring of 2009. The first e-tickets were issued for a period of five years, which means that they expire in 2014 and have to be replaced by new ones. The e-ticket can be replaced in two ways.
- Electronically. The customer has to fill in an application form on www.rigassatiksme.lv at section “Check validity of your e-ticket!” and choose the customer service centre where he/she would like to receive a new e-ticket/"Riga resident’s card". After the data are processed, the customer will receive an SMS/e-mail to the address stated in the form with an invitation to visit the customer service centre, having an identity document and the expiring e-ticket with him/her, and to receive the new e-ticket/"Riga resident’s card" which will be printed on the spot.
- In customer service centre, where, after presenting the expiring e-ticket and an identity document, the customer will fill in an application form and receive the e-ticket/"Riga resident’s card" which will be printed on the spot.
“Rīgas satiksme” reminds that customers may apply for visiting a customer service centre in advance at www.rigassatiksme.lv.
The expiry date of blue personalized e-tickets is written on the e-ticket (see the picture). As for non-personalised e-tickets, one can learn the expiry date from a printout of the e-ticket contents which is available at any place where e-tickets are sold.
“Rīgas satiksme” is launching on March 24 an information campaign to draw customers’ attention to the expiry date of their e-tickets. During the campaign, the information about how a customer shall act to have his/her e-ticket replaced by a new one will be available in public transport, at public transport stops and on the company’s website.
